Our school year usually begins by mid-August. By then, I have most of my books and curricula set to go, though there are often stragglers for some reason or another - companies that haven't finished publishing the entire year and only send you parts to get you started, etc. One thing that has yet to fail is that after two or three weeks I discover that, for some reason, one of my choices isn't working. This year it's Michelle's science. But, first things first, so here's the original list:

Music
Everyone is taking piano lessons. The girls take piano with their older sister and Michael goes to Dave Clark's studio.
Art
I am going through God and the History of Art by Barry Stebbing with Michael and Michelle. It has a good number of lessons dealing with ancient art which will integrate will with what we're doing in social studies and Bible this year.
Vocabulary
I am using English from the Roots Up with all three first thing in the morning along with our Bible verse time. Emily is not getting much more than the definition of the root word, but she sits along with us and listens as we go through Greek and Latin words that are roots for common English words. The other day Michelle told some friends that she has "bugphobia" - we had been learning about derivatives and the meaning of the word "phobia" earlier in the week!
This is the core of our curriculum for this year. I have lots of extras and add to it as we go along and find that there is a special interest developing in one area. We may then take extra time to do more in-depth studies on that subject, the library is our best friend at times like this.
